Palm Desert. CA, August 23, 2007 – Since re-launching the modern Sea-Doo® watercraft in 1988, BRP has built the Sea-Doo name into one of the biggest marine brands in the world. With over one million units manufactured. Sea-Doo watercraft offer riders the ultimate riding experience. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sea-Doo, BRP raises the bar for 2008 with dramatic new X models the 255 hp RXP-X and RXT-X; and the first-ever personal watercraft ballast system on the Sea-Doo WAKE model.
NEW SEA-DOO X MODELS: BRP flexes its muscle heritage with a new category of racerinspired models for 2008: Sea-Doo RXP-X 255 and RXT-X 255. No other manufacturer offers a production watercraft with a complete high-performance package of this level, which sets a new benchmark in power, acceleration, handling, and fun. The high performance X models deliver the industrys best handling hulls and rider ergonomics, for precise, nimble performance, plus the new supercharged and intercooled 255 hp Rotax® 4-TEC® engine for maximum power. This is the most powerful engine ever in a Sea-Doo watercraft, and it retains Sea-Doo’s title for the industry’s best power-to-weight ratio (see Technology Backgrounder for details). The X models feature a race-style handlebar and steering system, and a special, low profile, high-grip seat, that combine to provide riders with maximum leverage for fine-tuning their riding position. RXP-X and RXT-X deliver the quickest acceleration ever offered on a production personal watercraft, able to travel 200 ft / 61 m from a standing start in under four seconds, comparable to the most exotic sports cars.
NEW SEA-DOO BALLAST SYSTEM: BRP takes the only watercraft specifically designed for tow sports and boosts the wake amplitude for 2008. The industry’s first ballast system allows the rider to add up to 200 lbs / 90 kg of additional weight to the rear swim platform for greater “pop” when launching off the wake, providing more jump height, easier wake-to-wake jumping, and more advanced manoeuvres. The easy-fill and removable ballast system also features a large non-skid surface, footrests for the rear-facing spotter, and is integrated with the standard a board rack to easily carry a board to and from the ride site.
BRP is once again positioned to redefine the PWC industry with its high performance X models and unrivalled ballast system, said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Snowmobile, Watercraft, ATV and Sport boat – North America. These new innovations and technologies clearly demonstrate why no one has more momentum than BRP in the powersports industry and why Sea-Doo watercraft remain Number One worldwide.
The 2008 Sea-Doo line-up covers all watercraft segments, offering consumers the best choice of engines, features and colors.
